This eri silk ikat stole has a happy burst of dots in sherbet orange, ink blue and ochre on a creamy white base. The stole has an orange selvedge and is complemented by jagged bands on either ends in sherbet orange and ochre with tassels in creamy white.
‘Chitiki’ in weavers parlance means a dot. Ikat weaving involves a fast disappearing, painstaking, and laborious process of graphing a design, to marking on the yarn, tying and untying yarn, and dyeing each color separately. Once this process is complete, it means the chitikis are complete and the weaving of the design commences, while ensuring the chitikis in the design are intact.
Enjoy its beauty as a piece of art.
