This Gulmohur red eri silk ikat shawl has three jagged line ikat pattern in maroon and white arranged in rows. A orange line pattern connects the rows creating an innovative chevron pattern. The selvedge in red and orange runs across the length. Both ends have a red fringe.
‘Chitiki’ in weavers parlance means a dot. Ikat weaving involves a fast disappearing, painstaking, and laborious process of graphing a design, to marking on the yarn, tying and untying yarn, and dyeing each color separately. Once this process is complete, it means the chitikis are complete and the weaving of the design commences, while ensuring the chitikis in the design are intact. Enjoy its beauty as a piece of art.
