Crafted from the finest Eri silk yarn, responsibly sourced from north east India, each garment begins its journey at the loom in a heritage weaving district of West Bengal. Here, master artisans handweave the fabric creating a supple, breathable canvas. This woven base then travels south to Kalahasthi, Andhra Pradesh, home to the revered tradition of Kalamkari. Here, the cloth is first gently pre-treated in a milk bath, and then the design sketched by hand using a solution of iron and jaggery, before being meticulously painted with natural dyes, each hue bonded to the fiber through an alum mordant. The artwork itself is rendered using a slender bamboo pen wrapped in cotton—giving the craft its name: Kalamkari (pen-worked). The fabric undergoes a total of 23 exacting steps in the process of painting, curing, and washing to create the final product.

• Dry clean. Gentle professional cleaning. Eco dry cleaning recommended, if available.
• Avoid harsh chemicals. Keep away from perfumes, deodorants, cosmetics, bleach, stain removers and other chemicals that may damage the silk.
• Air gently after wear. Allow the garment to air away from direct sunlight and heat.
• Steam gently. Use a steamer or steam iron on low heat. Avoid prolonged contact with the fabric and do not use high heat.
• If damp, dry naturally. Allow the garment to dry in a well-ventilated space. Do not wring, twist or rub the fabric.
• Store with care. Store clean and completely dry, preferably folded loosely in a breathable fabric cover.
